Overview

The Reports System allows you to generate detailed cost analysis reports using pre-built templates. Reports can be exported in multiple formats for sharing with your team.

Pre-Built Reports

CosmosCost includes four pre-configured report types:

1. Monthly Summary Report

  • Total costs by month
  • Month-over-month comparisons
  • Cost trends and forecasts
  • Summary statistics

2. Provider Comparison Report

  • Cost breakdown by cloud provider
  • Provider-specific trends
  • Service distribution per provider
  • Comparative analysis charts

3. Service Usage Report

  • Detailed service-level costs
  • Usage patterns and trends
  • Top services by cost
  • Service optimization recommendations

4. Cost Trends Report

  • Historical cost analysis
  • Trend identification
  • Anomaly detection
  • Forecast projections

Generating Reports

From Pre-Built Reports

  1. Select a pre-built report type
  2. Configure date range
  3. Click Generate Report
  4. Wait for processing (usually seconds)
  5. View interactive report

Report Viewer

Interactive report viewer includes:

  • Executive Summary: Key metrics at a glance
  • Interactive Charts: Line, bar, and pie charts
  • Data Tables: Detailed cost breakdowns
  • Filters: Refine results in real-time
  • Drill-down: Click to explore deeper

Exporting Reports

Export Formats

  • PDF: Professional formatted reports
  • CSV: Raw data for analysis
  • Excel: Spreadsheet with charts

How to Export

  1. Generate or open a report
  2. Click Export dropdown
  3. Select format (PDF, CSV, or Excel)
  4. Download begins automatically

Scheduled Reports (Business+) - Coming Soon

Feature In Development

Scheduled report automation will be available soon. Currently, you can generate and export reports manually.

Automated report generation and delivery (planned features):

  • Schedule daily, weekly, or monthly reports
  • Email delivery to team members
  • Automatic exports in chosen format
  • Dashboard integration

Setting Up Scheduled Reports (Planned)

When available, scheduled reports will work as follows:

  1. Open a saved report
  2. Click Schedule
  3. Choose frequency and time
  4. Select recipients
  5. Choose export format
  6. Activate schedule

Best Practices

Report Design

  • Start with specific questions you want to answer
  • Choose the appropriate pre-built report template
  • Use appropriate date ranges
  • Apply filters to focus analysis

Performance

  • Limit date ranges for faster generation
  • Use filters to reduce data volume

Troubleshooting

Report Generation Fails

  • Check date range is valid
  • Verify data exists for selected period
  • Simplify filters if too restrictive
  • Try smaller date range

No Data in Report

  • Verify cloud accounts are syncing
  • Check filters aren't excluding all data
  • Ensure date range includes billable period
  • Wait for initial sync to complete

Export Not Working

  • Check browser pop-up blocker
  • Ensure sufficient disk space
  • Try different export format
  • Clear browser cache
